Thanks to the high quality clean sea, in 1998, Crikvenica’s beach became the recipient of the first “Blue flag”, an international award for ecology standards and quality, an annual reward awarded by the International Education and Environment Foundation (FEE).
The Crikvenica Riviera stretches for 28km along the coastline, rich with natural coves, sandy and pebbled beaches. The beaches are suitable for all ages, people with disabilities, young people, families with children and even pets.
The well-indented coastline is perfectly suited for all sports: swimming, diving, water skiing, sailing, beach volleyball, handball, football, cycling, tennis, sport fishing etc. Sport equipment, deck chairs and other equipment can be hired every day in the summer months.
Beach - "Gradsko kupalište"
A well known sandy beach. It was awarded the "Blue flag" in 1998. It is suitable for people with disabilities. An entrance fee is charged from 8am-5pm. After 5pm the beach becomes a promenade and fun park for children and adults.
There are many water sports offered at the beach: water skiing, parachute rides, peddled boats, beach volleyball, table tennis, water exercises, equipment hire.
There are many café bars at the beach, restaurants, sport courts and children playground, aquagan, souvenir shops and small fresh produce shops (fruit, cakes, bakery goods).
Beach "Crni molo"
It is sandy part of the beach "Gradsko kupalište" known for its shallow bay, perfect for children and for playing the famous Croatian ball game "picigin" (type of volleyball in the sea).
Beach "Balustrada"
A pebbled beach that stretches from the main beach "Gradsko kupalište" to the centre of Crikvenica. It has been the recipient of the European “Blue Flag” for many years. Entrance is free. Hiring deck chairs, parasols, peddle boats and other equipment is possible. At the beach there is a children playground.
Hotel Zagreb is in immediate vicinity of the beach.
Beach "Kaštel"
A pebbled beach in front of hotel Kaštel, in the centre of Crikvenica. Entrance is free. You can hire deck chairs and parasols and other equipment at the beach. Restaurant Stella Maris is right next to the beach.
Beach "Omorika"
A pebbled beach in front of hotel Omorika. The beach offers a lot of fun activities and water sports. There are a number of bars at the beach, and you can rent deck chairs and parasols as well. Entrance is free.
Beach "Kačjak"
A long pebbled beach at the resort Kačjak. It is situated in a peaceful bay, surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation. You can hire deck chairs and parasols at the beach or visit a bar.
Beach "Katarina Swimming pools"
A complex in front of hotel Katarina with outside pools filled with sea water. One pool is suited for children and non swimmers. The pools have been awarded the European Blue flag. Entrance is free for the guests of hotel Varaždin. At the swimming pool you can hire deck chairs and parasols. Next to the pool there is a café bar and restaurant.
Beach "Poli mora" Slaven
Is a beach in front of hotel Slaven. It is the recipient of the European Blue flag. Entrance is free. You can hire deck chairs and parasols at the beach. There are many cafes nearby, as well as the restaurant Rokan. The restaurant offers a wide range of food at reasonable prices.
Beach for dogs "Podvorska"
In 2010 in Crikvenica was open the first beach for dogs. It is situated close to the small port "Podvorska" at the end of the break water. The entrance is free. There is a bulletin board with behaviour rules for dog owners, and dog sheds for sun protection.
This beach was chosen as the best dog beach on Adriatic in 2013. The title was given by video portal Top destinacije - Hrvatska www.topdestinacije.hr
